There are many ways to engage with the Alliance and members from around the globe throughout the year. The Alliance hosts many events as well as shares information on events taking place globally of interest to the social service workforce.

Social Service Workforce Week

The 6th annual Social Service Workforce Week, to be celebrated October 21-26, will call attention to the many ways the social service workforce collaborates with other sectors for promotive, preventative and responsive services that improve health and well-being. The 5th annual Social Service Workforce Week in September 2018 highlighted the new Call to Action: Strengthening the Social Service Workforce to Better Protect Children and Achieve the SDGs. Daily blogs highlighted country case studies of national actions underway and provided specific steps individuals and organizations can take. Resources, tools, worker profiles and other materials were shared throughout the week. Many members and stakeholder groups joined in the advocacy effort throughout the week to increase supportive actions for strengthening of the workforce. Review the materials from 2018 and prior years.

World Social Work Day

Every year, World Social Work Day is celebrated the third Tuesday of March, and events are organized throughout the month of March. World Social Work Day is an opportunity for social workers and others in the social service sector to celebrate their achievements as well as to raise awareness and support for the important role that social workers play in the lives of vulnerable families and communities. The day calls attention to the need for further planning, development and support to the profession and social service sector.
