Changing the Paradigm - Save the Children's Work to Strengthen the Child Protection System in Indonesia

Save the Children’s work on shifting the paradigm of alternative care for children in Indonesia is a work in progress that began in 2005 and will continue until at least 2017. The goal is not only to improve child protection and family based care for children in Indonesia but also to develop a program that can be replicated in other countries. This report provides in-depth information for the entire seven years that this program has been in existence, including case studies. It also offers lessons learned as a developing country shifts policies and resources, including human resources, to support healthy child development in a safe family environment.  The report includes chapters on the social work workforce, certification of social work professionals and para-professionals, accreditation of social welfare service providers and training programs for child and family centered social work practice.
