Child Victims of Human Trafficking: outcomes and service adaptation within the U.S. Unaccompanied Refugee Minor programs

Child victims of trafficking have additional needs and vulnerabilities, especially as they begin to rebuild their lives in their new communities. This paper presents the features of the unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) program, administered by United States Conference of Catholic Bishops/Migration and Refugee Services (USCCB/MRS) that most effectively meets the specialized needs of foreign-born child victims of human trafficking.

Challenges of Assessing Maltreated Children Coming into Foster Care

An ongoing randomized controlled trial in Glasgow, Scotland, recruiting infants entering foster care, provides a unique opportunity to explore some of the issues which need to be considered when assessing these children. The assessment data of 70 infants entering care is described while exploring the reliability of foster carers as informants and the importance of infant engagement with tasks.

Community-based Organizations for Vulnerable Children in South Africa: Reach, psychosocial correlates, and potential mechanisms

Evidence is lacking as to whether CBOs are reaching those who are most vulnerable, whether attending these organizations is associated with greater psychosocial wellbeing for the individual, and how CBOs work in practice. Data were obtained from the Young Carers and Child Community Care studies for input into this study.

Monitoring HIV and AIDS Related Policy Reforms: A road map to strengthen policy monitoring and implementation in PEPFAR partner countries

Countries with high HIV burden often have low policy development, advocacy, and monitoring capacity. This manuscript describes the increased focus on policy development and implementation by the United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). It evaluates the curriculum and learning modalities used for two regional policy capacity building workshops organized around the PEPFAR Partnership Framework agreements and the Road Map for Monitoring and Implementing Policy Reforms.

Supporting Family Engagement in Home Visiting with the Family Map Interventions

A study was conducted to examine the feasibility and usefulness of universal screening tool--the Family Map Inventory (FMI)--to assess family strengths and needs in a home visiting program. Self-care and Professional Quality of Life: Predictive factors among MSW practitioners

This study explored the effects of self-care practices and perceptions on positive and negative indicators of professional quality of life, including burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion satisfaction among MSW practitioners. Results reveal that while social workers value and believe self-care is effective in alleviating job-related stress, they engage in self-care on a limited basis.
