This presentation is by the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance and their colleagues regarding a project they have been working on in partnership with parents to identify alternatives to CPS investigations. Using a participatory action research approach, three foundations (Annie E. Casey, Stand Together, and Aviv Foundation) supported a project to engage with parents as planners, recruiters, and interviewers to reach out to 100 parents across the U.S. who have experienced an initial visit from their local child welfare system.

The Government of Rwanda (GoR) is committed to ensuring that all children achieve their full potential in a safe and protective environment. A key element of this commitment is the ‘Inshuti z’Umuryango’ (IZU) or ‘Friends of the Family’ programme. IZU are a cadre of para-professional volunteers who are selected by residents in every village (one male and one female) based on their good reputation. They usually work as a pair in supporting children and families and are responsible for assisting in the protection of children from neglect, violence, abuse, and exploitation.

The authors of this issue elaborate on various ethical topics, including the ethical implications of internet searching of client information by social workers, the implications of professional pledge for professional identity, pregnancy options counseling, the promotion of trans-affirming practices, the Islamic basis of social work in the modern world and social work faculty progressivism in a conservative world.

The focus of this document is to support, inform and empower social workers across the UK in their ongoing practice and consideration of issues that arise in relation to people arriving and staying under the UK Ukraine visa schemes.

Recruiting talented people to work within public and tribal child welfare programs has always been a challenge and is now a crisis. Attracting employees to child welfare requires new approaches and strategies in the context of an ongoing pandemic and rapid societal change.

Children with disabilities are particularly vulnerable in humanitarian settings, yet they are often not able to access the services and protection they need. While multiple factors create these barriers, a major cause is how data about children with disabilities is collected and mapped. Data collection processes often exclude or underrepresent the views of children with disabilities and thier caretakers.

The utilisation of artificial intelligence and other technologies in social work cast doubt on the digital acumen of social workers. This paper sought to contribute to the development of electronic social work popularly known as e-social work. Integrative literature review was adopted as the methodology for this paper. The paper has found that there is a need for the development of the field of electronic social work in order to enable the safe and ethical use of artificial intelligence in practise. In addition, the paper has provided guidelines.

Climate change involves rising global temperatures as a result of greenhouse gas emissions, primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Evidence shows that climate change is influencing weather patterns across the world, including in Eastern and Southern Africa, negatively affecting household livelihoods and exposing families to climate-related emergencies, such as floods, droughts and heatwaves. As access to key resources diminishes, climate change is also exacerbating conflict and tensions.

Currently, China has fully built a moderately prosperous society, and poverty alleviation work has entered the "post poverty alleviation era", marking the beginning of a new stage of "consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and effectively connecting with rural revitalization". The involvement of social work in rural revitalization can meet the diverse and multi-level needs of rural services, help consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation and effectively connect with rural revitalization, and promote common prosperity.

Supporting families at risk of separation and reunifying families who have been separated are at the core of Changing the Way We Care's work. Over the past year in which the COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges, our thoughts about how families are supported and by whom has been validated. The symbiotic relationship between family strengthening, reunification, case management and workforce strengthening has been illuminated. Each area of work must be done well for the other to be successful.

Social work has developed unevenly within Europe and globally, with differences in terms of its recognition, training, professionalisation and academisation. This is mirrored in an unbalance in reciprocal influence, particularly vis-a-vis knowledge production, and the origin of tensions between importing/exporting ‘ready-made’ ideas from stronger social work communities and efforts towards indigenisation and locally rooted knowledge production.

In the current turbulent and constantly changing conditions, there is a growing tendency to develop human resource activities through implementing managerial innovations. The present paper addresses social workers’ work motivation in Slovakia. The paper's main goal is to determine the impact of work motivation on social service employees, representatives of generation X and generation Y. The present paper analyses generation X’s and generation Y’s work preferences accounting for the distinctiveness of social service work performance.

The Case Management Task Force (CMTF) of the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action recognized an opportunity to improve outcomes for children by updating the child protection case management training package for caseworkers in humanitarian settings.

This study was motivated by Indonesian Law on Juvenile Criminal Justice System, which is now starting to take effect based on the restorative justice paradigm. The study aims to analyze the restorative justice in the juvenile system as the settlement of criminal cases together with related parties in order to find a fair settlement by emphasizing restoration to its original state.

Family for Every Child's new Participatory Evaluation Toolkit places the knowledge and experience of local Civil Society Orangisations (CSOs) at its centre. It offers an alternative to traditional evaluation dynamics, by drawing on the strength of local solutions. 

Guidance and tools for participatory monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) have been developed to support local CSOs to build evidence of their promising practices, in a way that works for them, and contributes to the body of effective and transformative practice within the children’s rights sector.
