Action to End Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse E-Course

The sexual abuse and exploitation of children is a violation of human rights and a health problem with significant consequences for global health and development. This course is designed to increase awareness and knowledge about child sexual exploitation and abuse, including abuse facilitated by technology, and promote evidence-based strategies and actions for prevention and response. The course covers policy, advocacy and a wide range of programmatic aspects and draws on UNICEF’s evidence review and brief on “Action to End Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation”. The course is designed for professionals in government, civil society, and the private sector.

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

• describe the global evidence on the extent, nature and consequences of child sexual exploitation and abuse, including online child sexual exploitation and abuse
• understand existing global standards and violence prevention strategies, frameworks and partnerships (including the INSPIRE and RESPECT frameworks and the WeProtect Model National Response), and a theory of change to prevent and respond to child sexual exploitation and abuse
• relate evidence-based interventions to build enabling national environments, improve service delivery and support social and behavioural change in your own context; and
• describe remaining gaps in knowledge and challenges for practice and opportunities.
