Modelling the Effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Violent Discipline Against Children

This study estimated the anticipated effect of COVID-19 on violent discipline at home using multivariable predictive regression models. This study is motivated by concerns that the COVID-19 pandemic has potentially increased children’s risk of experiencing violence. The pandemic has led to the disruption of formal and informal child protection systems responsible for identification of and response to cases of violence. The paper aims to discuss the benefits and challenges of approaches to address risk factors for violent discipline depending on the level of lockdown.
