Annual Symposium
The Alliance hosts an annual symposium to provide a forum for social service practicioners, academics, students, policy makers and advocates from around the world to discuss efforts to strengthen the social service workforce. Previous topics have focused on the role of the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of evidence to ignite support for the workforce, developing and implementing national workforce strengthening strategies, strengthening the continuum of care for children and families, and more. Social Service Workforce Week
Every year, the Alliance hosts Social Service Workforce Week. The week serves as an opportunity for advocates to bring attention to and build support for the social service workforce as well as raise awareness about promising workforce strengthening efforts supported by stakeholders around the world. Organized around daily themes focused on areas of practice, the week allows Alliance members and the public to exchange knowledge and resources and engage in advocacy efforts through various forms of social media. World Social Work Day
Every year, World Social Work Day is celebrated the third Tuesday of March, and events are organized throughout the month of March. World Social Work Day is an opportunity for social workers and others in the social service sector to celebrate their achievements as well as to raise awareness and support for the important role that social workers play in the lives of vulnerable families and communities. The day calls attention to the need for further planning, development and support to the profession and social service sector.
